When talking about the compressibility of a gas we speak about how much it can be compressed at a given temperature, volume, and pressure. In the end, we want to calculate the work done on m = 1 Kg of nitrogen (N2) gas in a rigid tank isothermally. Assume that this can be done when the reduced parameters are 5.0 <= PR <= 6.5 and TR = 1.3 and that the compressibility factor Z has a linear behavior under these conditions, as shown in the compressibility chart below.

ANSWER TRUE OR FALSE (JUSTIFY YOUR ANSWER)

1. The compressibility factor equation is defined by Z = 0.55 + 0.0236P.

2. For compressing nitrogen isothermally, the work done expression is W = 0.55mRTln(P1/P2).

3. The pressures at states 1 and 2 are P1 = 15.26 MPa and P2 = 22.04 MPa.

4. The corresponding specific volumes are v1 = 0.003191 m3/Kg and v2 = 0.002209 m3/Kg.

5. The work done for compressing the nitrogen is W = -8.23 kJ.
