Read Federalist Number 10 where James Madison warned of the dangers of "factions," but he also believed that limiting factions was worse than facing the evils some might produce. Madison believed factions would be under control by competing with each other and therefore not violate individual freedoms. Describe either an interest group, a PAC (Political Action Committee), or political party from our readings and resources and describe how their choices have influenced politics either nationally or locally. What are the pros and cons of the group that you picked? Finally, do you agree with Madison's assessment of factions or do you find his assessment unfounded?
