QUESTION 1) In the figure, the gear shaft is tightly fitted. Forces in gear; Fr= S*100 N and Ft=S*500 N. Diameter of the section circle of the gear (Diameter on which the forces act) d=200mm, the diameter of the tooth base of the gear =190mm, the number of revolutions of the shaft; Since n=50 min-1, shaft and gear material is 41Cr4 steel, S=11;

a) Is the tolerance given between shaft and gear sufficient to transmit the resulting torque? Do your check. Surface crushing will be neglected. The safety factor against slipping is Sk=1.5, ?=0.15.

b) If a wedge was used for moment transmission instead of a tight fit, what would be the wedge dimensions relative to shear? Take the wedge material E295 and S=1.5.

c) Considering the bearing A as a fixed bearing, calculate the reaction forces in the bearings. Draw shear force, bending and torsional moment diagrams.

d) Is the diameter value given in the most stressed section of the shaft appropriate for S=1.5? Take Kç=1.5.
