Figure below shows the schematic diagram of an air-conditioning system proposed for the very hot and dry environment in the desert area. The proposed system consists of an Evaporative Cooler section and a Desiceator Wheel section. In a hot summer day, outside air with 39?C temperature, 10% relative humidity, and 1atm pressure enters the inlet section of the air-conditioning system. Cold mist of water is sprayed over the outside air in the evaporative cooler section. Air leaves the evaporative cooler section with 80% relative humidity. Subsequently, this humid air passes through the desiccator wheel. The desiccator wheel is made of desiccant material of good moisture absorbing characteristics. Air leaves the desiccator wheel with 30% relative humidity and is routed to a room for air-conditioning purpose. Assume that moisture removal process occurs at a constant temperature in the desiccator wheel. The volume flow rate of air at the inlet section of the duct is 5m3/min (a) Show the process in a Psychrometric chart. (b) Determine the temperature of the air at the exit section of the evaporative cooler ( in ?C ). (c) Determine the amount of moisture added (in kg/s ) in the evaporative cuoler section. (d) Deternine the moisture removal rate (in kg/s ) by the desiccator wheel section.
