PART 9: The Lower Extremities - The Foot (Tarsals, Metatarsals, Phalanges) The foot is composed of 7 tarsals that form the heel and ankle, 5 metatarsals, and 14 phalanges. Tarsais Talus Medial Cuneiform Caicaneus Lateral Cuneiform Cuboid Intermediate Cuneiform Navicular 70. Tarsal that articulates with tibia and fibula. 71. Weight bearing tarsal that makes up the heel. Metatarsals Metatarsals make up the instep of the foot. These bones are numbered 1.5 medially to laterally (big toe to pinky toe). Phalanges 14 phalanges make up the toes. Each bone is named for its digit number (1-5 from medial to lateral) and its position in the digit (proximal, middle, or distal). For example: First distal phalange, middle phalange \#3, etc Identify each of the bones of the foot as indicated in the image below: A. B. C. D. E F. G H. 1. J. K. L. PART 8: The Lower Extremities - The Kneecap (Patella) The patella forms the kneecap and plays a role in range of movement at the knee joint. Indicate each marking of the patella based on the description: Base Apex Body 67. Proximal/superior surface of the patella. Point of quadricep attachment. 68. Middle portion of the patella. 69. Distal/inferior surface of the patella. Point of patellar ligament attachment for anchoring to the tibia. Identify the markings of the patella as indicated on the image: A. B. C. PART 1: The Pectoral (Shoulder) Girdle The bones of the shoulder girdle include the scapula and clavicle. The shoulder girdle serves to attach the bones of the upper limb to the axial skeleton and to facilitate a wide range of movement at the shoulder joint. For the following questions, indicate whether the statement refers to the clavicle or to the scapula, or fill in the appropriate bony marking from the list below: Clavicle Acromion Subscapular Fossa Scapula Spine Sternal End Coracoid Process Acromial End Supraspinous Fossa Glenoid Fossa/Cavity Infraspinous Fossa 1. Bone that attaches directly to the axial skeleton. 2. Bone that does not directly attach to the axial skeleton. 3. Bone that articulates with the humerus. 4. Curved anterior portion of the scapula. 5. Depression superior to the scapular spine. 6. Depression inferior to the scapular spine 7. Ridge-like projection from the posterior aspect of the scapula. 8. Cylindrical, medial end of the clavicle 9. Flat, lateral end of the clavicle. 10. Flat, lateral projection of the scapula that articulates with the clavicle. 11. Small superiorlanterior projection of the scapula that serves as a site of muscle attachment: 12. Lateral depression of the scapula, serves as an articulation point for the - humerus. Identify the bones and markings on the images below A. B. C. D. E Fr G. H. 1. . K. 13. Does bone A belong on the right or lett side of the body as shown here? 14. Does bone D belong on the night or lett side of the body as shown here?
