Question 2 For the anchored sheet pile shown below, the ground water table is located on both sides of the sheet pile at a depth of \( 4 \mathrm{~m} \) below the ground surface. The depth of excavation \( \mathrm{H} \) is shown in the table below according to your group number. (a) Using the attached USS Sheet Piling Chart (assuming it will apply to this case), find : (i) The depth of penetration, D. (ii) The maximum bending moment. (iii) The anchor (tie rod) force, T. The anchors (tie rods) are placed at \( 3 \mathrm{~m} \) horizontal interval. (iv) Design the anchor block (i.e. what is the depth of the anchor block below the ground surface \( \left(d_{a}\right) \) and what is the height of the block (b). See slides 19 to 20. (v) With the aid of sketch show how far from the sheet pile you can install the anchor block. b) Redo part (a) (i) and (a) (ii) assuming no anchor. (i.e a cantilever sheet pile).
