In the process of muscle contraction, an action potential arrives at the nerve terminal to stimulate the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine through the process of reguiated secretion as shown in the figure below. Acetylcholine then binds to the acetylcholine receptor on the postsynaptic muscle cell, causing muscle cbntraction.
