In response to two peers on their growth plans, address the following: Compare your experiences with developing a growth plan. Identify one aspect of their growth plan that you liked. How might you measure success differently than they did? Why? I have had the opportunity to develop a growth plan for myself. About 3 years ago, I charted a five-year career plan with specific milestones, such as gaining experience in different work areas, pursuing further education, and developing new skills. I can say I`m not quite there, but I have achieved some short-term goals. I learned the importance of having clear goals and being able to adapt to any change that will come along. My personal measure of success includes professional growth: having a career advancement by taking on leadership roles and learning new skills is important for me. It will help me remain competitive and contribute to my organization more effectively. Impact: making a positive impact in my organization or in community will give me a purpose. Work-life balance: Maintaining a healthy balance between my professional and personal life. This is very important for my overall well-being and long-term productivity. While I have not developed a formal growth plan in a professional setting, I have practiced developing plans to help me reach my personal goals. For instance, I created a growth plan for myself when I was accepted into SNHU for my undergraduate program. I have always been the “where do I want to be in 5 years” type of person, so this has always come naturally to me. When creating these plans for myself in the past I have focused heavily on identifying the goals, discovering the “why” behind them, documenting it, aligning my choices and efforts to match the goals I set, and then utilizing discipline and accountability to achieve the goals I set. This is such a challenging measurement to consider, as I feel it varies for everyone. I’d say my biggest measurement for success would be to find fulfillment in the things that I do. However, I also think there are different metrics to use, such as, financial, personal growth, satisfaction, and rewards. Personally, I measure my success on personal growth and satisfaction in the things that I do.
