In order to experimentally determine the moment of inertia IG? of a 4?kg connecting rod-the rod is suspended horizontally at A by a cord and at B by a bearing and piezoelectric sensor, an instrument used for measuring force, as shown in (Figure 1). Under these equilibrium conditions, the force at B is measured as 13.8N.
If at the instant the cord is released the reaction at B is measured as 9.3N, determine the value of IG?. The support at B does not move shen the measurement is taken.
