The table below gives tooth counts for the gear train shown in the figure. An input shaft connects to gear 2 and an output shaft to gear 6. All gears are standard involute spur gears with a diametral pitch of \( 6 \mathrm{in}^{-1} \) and a pressure angle of \( \phi=25^{\circ} \). (a) Find the center-to-center distance between gear 2 and gear 6. Do not look for a canned equation-reason from the figure and the data! (b) Suppose input gear 2 revolves clockwise at \( 1200 \mathrm{rpm} \) and delivers a power of \( 1.5 \mathrm{HP} \). Find the torque on shaft 2. (c) Draw a free-body diagram of gear 2 . Find the force between gears 2 and 3. (d) Draw a free-body diagram of gear 3 . Note: gear 3 is an idler. There is no shaft to add or remove torque! (e) Study the assembly, gears 4 and 5 . Is the force between gears 3 and 4 the same as that between 5 and 6 ? No? Find both of those forces. (f) Find the speed of output gear 6 . (g) Check all meshes to determine if inteference
