Figure 1 shows an equilateral triangle ABC. That means all three angles A,B,C are equal to each other (A=B=C) and equal to degrees. All three sides AB,BC, and AC, are also equal to each other (AB=BC=AC). In this example we call that length s. The letter s could be any number ( 1.22cm or 3.43m, etc), in this case we leave it unspecified and general. The three other dashed lines AE,BF,CD are drawn to be perpendicular bisectors. That means the are perpendicular to the sides at one end and they bisect the angle (divide into two equal parts) at the other end. That means that the line AE bisects angle and is perpendicular to side - It also means that angle EAB= degrees and angle EAC = degrees. Here are some more questions regarding Figure 1. Refer to the course equation sheet for values of the sine and cosine in terms of square root values. Report answers in terms of square root values and/or fractions times s. Remember that the length of the sides of the equilateral triangle are all s(AB=BC=AC=s ) It might help to think of s=1 and then multiply by s. If the answer is s, just enter 1 . Since the units of s are not given, answers containing s vill have no units. Once you have the general answer you will be given a numerical value for s with units. Line AB= Line AF = Line BF= *s Suppose s=3.51cm, then Line AB=?s Suppose s=3.51cm, then Line AF=cmcm Figure 2 shows different right triangles ABD, , Note: letters must be in alphabetical order. Complete the following numerical calculations given AB=2.11cm and BC=3.91cm. Note: triangle may not be drawn to scale. Note: angle BAC is the angle formed where lines AB and AC meet at A Side AC=cm angle BAC= degrees angle ACB= degrees Side BD= cm Side AD=cm Side CD=cm angle ABD= degrees angle CBD= degrees Choose the letters of all correct equation - list letters in alphabetical order. A:BAC=BADB:ABC=ABD C: BAD=tan?1(AB/BC)D:BAD=tan?1(BC/AB)E:CD=BCcos(tan?1(AB/BC))F:CD=BCsin(tan?1(AB/BC)) Write a general symbolic equation for the following two items in terms of the two given quantities AB and BC.
