dynamics
A car is in motion along a horizontal straight line. The brakes of the car are applied, causing it to slow down at a rate of 2m/s2. Knowing that the car stops in 30m, determine: 1. How fast the car was traveling immediately before the brakes were applied; (in) 2. The time required for the car to stop. EXERCISE 2 A projectile is thrown from the edge of a 120?m cliff with an initial velocity of 140m/s at an angle of 45? with the horizontal (figure below). Neglecting air resistance, find: (a) The horizontal distance from the edge to the point where the projectile hits the ground; (b) The greatest elevation above the ground reached by the projectile; (c) When the greatest elevation is reached; (d) The velocity of the projectile just before touching the ground.
