Design an underground rectangular tunnel drift, in a massive granitic rock with a UCS over \( 100 \mathrm{MPa} \), of width:
Design an underground rectangular tunnel drift, in a massive granitic rock with a UCS over 100MPa, of width: 2.7m, height: 3.8m, and length 13m, using an initial Burn-Cut method to create an extra surface for the next underground Bench-Blasting operation, where the idea is roughly illustrated in Figure A3-Q2. Sketch/draw, with correct scales, your tunnel excavation problem showing all the xy,yz and xz section views together with your staged drilled blast holes. Design your burn-cut and show your design schematically with all the firing charge and detonation time delay details. Design your bench blast and show your design schematically with all the firing charge and detonation time delay details. Calculate your staged rock volumes, tonnages, burn-out and bench blasting powder factors (PF) and the total rock volume and the average PF.

Design of an underground rectangular tunnel drift in a massive rock with a UCA over 100Mpa, of width:2.7m, height:3.8m, and length 13m, using an initial Burn-Cut method to create an extra surface for the next underground Bench-Blasting operation.
Design
The tunnel will be excavated using a burn-cut method followed by a bench blast. The burn-cut will create a smooth surface for the bench blast to break off. The bench blast will be used to remove the remaining rock from the tunnel.
Burn-Cut
The burn-cut will be created using a cutting torch. The cutting torch will be used to cut a line along the top and bottom of the tunnel. The cut will be made in 1-meter increments. Once the cut is complete, the rock between the cuts will be removed using a jackhammer.
