Consider the following conversion data for A vs. reaction speed.

donde \( -r_{A}(=) \mathrm{gmol} / \mathrm{dm}^{3}-\mathrm{s} \)

We wish to analyze the 4 cases of reactors in series that are presented in the diagram. The
molar input flow of A is 1 gmol/s. For all cases, the global conversion to
the output of the first reactor is 30% and the global conversion at the output of the second is
60%.

a. 2 CSTR en serie.
b. 1 CSTR seguido de 1 PFR.
c. 1 PFR seguido de 1 CSTR.
d. 2 PFR en serie.

For each case, calculate the required volume (of each reactor and total) and tabulate your
results.
For each case, plot the volume of each reactor on a –FAo/rA vs. FOR
Could the best case have been deduced by analyzing the diagrams without the need for the
calculations?
Calculate the local conversion of the second reactor.
donde \( -r_{A}(=) \mathrm{gmol} / \mathrm{dm}^{3}-\mathrm{s} \) a. 2 CSTR en serie. b. 1 CSTR seguido de 1 PFR. c. 1 PFR seguido de 1 CSTR. d. 2 PFR en serie.

Expert Answer

Molar input flow of A (FA0) = 1 gmol/s Since rate equation for A is unknown, therefore we have to use graphical method to find volume of reactors. For that we will first tabulate values of FA0/-rA and conversion of A (XA) XA FA0/-rA (dm3) 0 188.6792
