A combined footing supports a 600×400mm exterior column carrying a service dead load of 900kN and a service live load of 675kN, plus a 600mm square interior column carrying a service loads of 1350kN dead load and 1000kN live load. The distance between the columns is 6m, center to center. The allowable soil bearing pressure is 240kN/m2. The basement floor is 125mm thick and supports a live load of 4.6kN/m2. The density of the fill above the footing is 20kN/m3. The bottom of the footing is to be 1.5m below grade. Design the footing assuming that fy?=420MPa and fc??=21MPa in the footing and fc??=35MPa in the column. Concrete is normal weight concrete with unit weight =24kN/m3.
