A combined gas turbine-steam turbine power plant operates as shown on Figure below. Pressure and temperature data are given at principal states on the diagram. The power developed by the gas cycle is 147MW. Using air-standard analysis for the gas, determine: a) the net power, in units of MW, developed by the combined power plant, b) the overall thermal efficiency of the combined power plant. c) If the plant would be operating solely as gas power cycle (Brayton) plant, then what would be the overall efficiency of the plant? d) Briefly, discuss what is the effect of adding the 'extra' vapor cycle (Rankine) to gas cycle (Brayton) on the overall thermal efficiency and power output of the plant.
