A ball starts from rest at the left end of the track shown in the figure below. The ball flies off the right end of the track and follows the parabolic trajectory shown. At each instant 1 and 2 , is the direction of the acceleration of the ball upward, downward, to the right, to the left, or is the acceleration zero? At instant 1 , the direction of the acceleration of the ball is upward and at instant 2 the direction is downward. At instant 1, the direction of the acceleration of the ball is downward and at instant 2 the direction is upward. The acceleration is zero at both instances. At instant 1, the direction of the acceleration of the ball is to the left and at instant 2 the direction is to the right. At instant 1, the direction of the acceleration of the ball is to the right and at instant 2 the direction is to the left.
