1. Molecular gastronomy spherification is the technique for creating polymers around food. While it has been around for many years, it only became a commercial industry in recent years with the first "edible water bottle" achieving viral media attention in 2013 . As an example, Notpla produces edible water bottles, biodegradable condiment packages, and much more using the exact same material and processes that we explored in Part C experiments. However, this spherification technology is limited from world-wide distribution due to various reasons including (I) how quickly the alginate polymer degrades - thus requiring production and distribution centers to be locally built and (2) the lack of robustness/strength of the alginate polymer meaning that it can readily break during transport. While Notpla is readily working to address these issues, how would you propose improving this technology so that we could used it world-wide?
